We're pleased to have worked with NHS England to design and develop a secure digital platform that helps clinicians manage complex prescribing decisions more efficiently and consistently. The clinical assessment portal provides a structured pathway for assessing patients, supporting clinical review and managing ongoing treatment monitoring through a single service.

Specialist prescribing pathways can involve multiple stages of assessment, review and approval, often requiring input from clinicians across different organisations. NHS England wanted to bring these processes together into one secure platform, reducing administrative burden while ensuring robust clinical governance and oversight.

As with many NHS digital services, security and information governance were central to the project. Role-based access controls ensure users only see information relevant to their organisation, while secure data handling and database-level encryption help protect sensitive patient information.

The portal was also designed to support the long-term management of patients. Automated review reminders allow clinicians to revisit and update assessments when required, helping maintain continuity of care without unnecessary duplication of work. Search, filtering and reporting tools provide clinical teams with the information they need to manage large numbers of cases effectively.

The result is a robust digital service that provides a clear and auditable process from assessment through to approval and ongoing review. By streamlining complex workflows and supporting consistent decision-making, the platform helps clinicians focus more of their time on patient care.
